Humbled by the Marvellous Toy.

I just watched a video interview of Rod Humble(Linden labs new CEO) being interviewed by the Gnoriad. The first thing that struck me was ooh he's a Brit XD. This is good there's a fundamental difference between Brits and Yanks and that is enthusiasm and motivation .By nature the Brits hate all that shit. that isn't to say were not enthusiastic and motivated just we don't believe staring wide eyed at u and punching the sky will polish the proverbial turd. The second thing was something I'd never really considered and that's the difference between a toy and a game. Secondlife is a toy he didn't say that he was talking about the products he'd developed but it's a toy. It doesn't have rules and an objective like a game does, anyone u meet new in Secondlife will ask what their suppose to do assuming it's a game.

People who spend time in SL know it's not a game have they thought of it as a toy before? I always thought of it as a chat room with shoes but this never fitted my experience as u could have read in my previous posts, but a toy? I'm comparing it to the first day at playschool you enter the world nervously alone, unsure of yourself and what is expected of you. Slowly u discover the toy box this isn't an actual box in SL, but it is similar. imagine the playschool toy box and what it contains dolls, hats and clothes toy cars building blocks. Slowly you begin to play with the toys, and as you gain confidence others start to join in and play along with you and that is Secondlife

It went "zip" when it moved and "bop" when it stopped,
And "whirr" when it stood still.
I never knew just what it was and I guess I never will. (T.Paxton)

After all is said and done, I gotta move it's still fun, I'm gonna walk before they make me run.

Smiles howdy what a week. Creativity making it happen is like trying to put a cat on a leash. I have been tearing my eyes out with it this week. There are a few things going on with it. As I mentioned before I'm trying to make skin. This is tricky, my idea is to produce a avatar in Zbrush that I can bathe in light and shadow to hopefully produce bakes that when imported into Secondlife shoud look pretty good with no hand painting required. I ran into a few problems firstly I found myself running out of ram memory on my pc , this caused the pc to freeze whilst it shuffles data to and from the hard drive. The expert 3d modelers would all say to work at a lower detail level. I am trying to do this just to be able to see if I'm pissing into the wind I need to jump forward here and there with my model and spit it out into Secondlife to check how I'm getting along. Really it looks ok in world however there's a huge difference between low and ultra on all things in sl. On low the surfaces have no lighting or shadows so a lit face can look quite good. The same skin however on ultra gets many different problems as the surface shading clashes with the game engine shading. Sculpting problems I'm facing is that I spent a long time trying to make the sculpted face look realistic partially to see if I could and also because i felt it would produce the best highlights and shading. When I came to bring test renders in world I'm finding especially around the lip area that the lipstick coverage isn't wrapping the lip sufficiently. So now I'm finding myself back in ZB deforming the mesh to expose the problem areas to take both lighting and colour better.
The next thing I have been fighting with is we were invited to open a store on Mia Snows new sim. This required us to construct something to suit the quality and look of the sim build, our products and to fall within our prim limit. I was happily tootling along with this when I became aware of Turnip Sorbet's build on Lula. I had one of those shit moments. Its not a complicated build its just so fucking refined .It has a unified compositional style and theme. It's using some clever technology in its production but it's been so well integrated I just wanna punch them. Its left me feeling sick and green with envy. It's that good I can't even enjoy it .
I'm learning this stuff I'm just at the stage where my use of the tools isn't intuitive and complete enough to improvise .If I pick up a guitar I can play music I don't have to think where to put my fingers I can just do it, same with a car. The design process uses many different skills. It just needs more work and practice before the parts integrate and sing ...
Re Lula go have a look just don't tell them I sent u ..
Re Mia Snows sim looks like a dream I'm both daunted and excited to be there..

Uncanny valley

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncanny_valley

Is an interesting link . It gets me thinking about sl the photo realism thing. u can take photos of a real thing and wrap them around the prim shape of a thing in sl and it will look like the real thing but in secondlife it will look wrong will look outta place. The freeby shops are full o clothes made this way by people who think all u have to do to make a coat is take photos of a coat. The best clothes are generally hand drawn many of the skins are 2.This skin is is a composite taken from photos of ma gf. The plan is to strip it back and refine it. if you compare this image with the earlier one u can see the eyebrows have gone. Dirty has been photoshoping this further reducing the detail more down to shadow and tone. The plan is to get an entire skin that were able to add make up layers 2.Many of the skins in secondlife use the same base freely available here http://sites.google.com/site/another/resources

Its a really good starting point that I'm not knocking. I just would like to go a little deeper into the process I'm happy to fall flat on my ass and fail at skin, as the texturing process is reflective and feeds back into my shoe work. I became aware that numerous skin designers in secondlife are sourcing this image http://lh6.ggpht.com/_KZ5kc2Sghp0/S8FW5LDk9uI/AAAAAAAAAX4/OlNVr2BZN80/Devon.Aoki.2.bmp of the model Devon an example of which is here for use in skins such as this http://www.brinksie.com/2010/11/11/seductress-of-bums/

It's a really good image I do understand why it's used and I took a photo of my gf in the same manner to obtain the even coverage over the mesh.

I feel using Zbrush I will be able to create my own skin shaders sampling lighting and tone information , Then be able to create original lighting bakes and hopefully produce some exciting new sl skins, inspired by but without sourcing the work that has gone before me.

But as I said I could quite easily fall on my ass 2.If the worst comes to the worst should improve my shoe textures

Zsculpty Markus giveth

:)
Just had my first try on the new mesh ZSculpty Tools, worked really well. That's my first correctly textured mesh. I used the uv master for the first time.My normal sculpy method uses a separate texture for each shoe part the mesh way packs them all together on a single image
It took a little figuring ou, I was hoping I could take the poly-painted parts of the shoe I had, and have them appear by magic on the flattened uv.Maybe there's no way of doing that. I just poly-painted on the new combined uv version of the shoe. A little extra secret bonus of this plugin is the files open in Photoshop extended in 3d. As time passes i'm using Photoshop less and less as I keep finding out zb does all that stuff.Zb is really turning out to be the tool for the job in regards to secondlife atleast it does everything I want in a way my feeble little brain can understand.

What is it

It isn't a chat room people don't talk there. It isn't a creative melting pot those things cant happen in a vacuum. It also isn't a place for online business meetings. As i said before there are no new people there.Just a string of alts looking for the thril it gave them when it was new.But the thrill seekers went when the porn required you to hand over rl details. Who is left well a few organisers, u know the type "Everybody follow me" "come along don't straggle at the back" the rest are the mentally ill, the outsiders the lost and the lonely.Secondlife always looked like a closed theme park.
I thought I could try to make a few sl friends in a different location "Plurk" but it seems i misunderstood the point of it.My interent background b4 secondlife was over in the Mirc Chat rooms.I hung out there for years having a laugh chatting with people.Plurk isn't a chat room as far as i can gather its a location to make pithy statements into the ether.I thought the people there were like me and wanted to chat talk about what we are making discuss ideas and have a laugh.I was however wrong. The people there care more about Karma and insipid shallowness and the occasional sales pitch than they do about the people there.Maybe its me maybe its a generational thing maybe its a chat rooms aint plurk or sl thing.I like talking to friends, it doesn't happen in these places
Leaves me the question what am i doing here?
Maybe its time to go

Harumph..don't get me started...

So after a Plurk/SL friend (zbrush genius and all round great person of note etc), Siddean of SLink posted a link to an article on Second life's failings written by a person who doesn't like it anyway I was a little annoyed and took the time to respond to the piece, yup, D Adored is meeee. Below is that response:

'Today I walked around The City of London; It was empty, it was cold, it rained a bit, there were adverts for prostitutes in a newsagents window, which means it must be full of them. I will be telling everyone this is how it is and never go again. I will not ask any real residents to show me around nor shall I investigate further, there was obviously no art, entertainment or social activity because in my wander around I didn't find any. That's my well researched and deep searching article that I shall now send off to newspapers and get published. Seriously? Where to start...I agree with almost every single thing said above, the Lindens are spoling SL with their greed, the starter experience can be shaky and the UI could be better, but there is so much more to SL than you found (again, I haven't been to Zindra since it opened, I've been in 3 years). You found what you looked for, porn and boredom; A wank in a wasteland, and it's no surprise you found it, because it's there. But it isn't the whole picture. SL is an interactive environment, there are artists and content creators everywhere and I can't believe you didn't bother looking further. Just a quick google would find you blogs with news of events and places to visit. All this shows is your lack of articulacy and willingness to look beneath an accepted stereotype; The 'look at those freaks' documentaries where the fat people meet online and get married. Sneer away, we are used to it.'

Unfortunately the comments only had a 1500 character capacity so I couldn't get on to how the graphics are more than likely his computers problem and that comparing SL to consul gaming is just wrong. He quite comprehensively missed the point, and this is the impression people will have of Second Life unless we all do something about it.

Rip you a new one

If you accept stolen items, in SL, and you're over, let's say a year old, then you are worse than the copybotter. Any dick can copybot anything; it isnt hard, google it.
Yeah, stick it to the Lindens, bastards. But here's the thing the Lindens ain't hurt by this 'victimless crime'.
Second Life is a game, people play it as an enrichment activity. Before I came to SL , I'd never used Photoshop or used a computer creatively, at all. I'd played games, sure, but I never thought I would ever be able to make one. But then, bit by bit, I made friends, I talked to people who do this stuff.
You read the stories about the 'SL Millionaires' they are out there, I'm not one of 'em. I'd like to be, who wouldn't, but it isn't really why I make things in Sl. The reason I make things is that by nature I'm a creative person. RL doesn't give me much opportunity for un-restricted creativity and decorating the bathroom doesn't make my juices pump.
Making things is hell. It's hard work, detailed work, its fucking frustrating and then people can't even tell you why they don't like it. Sooner or later, with a lot of work, your shit can turn to gold.
I was reading that one of my friends creations had been copied, again. She uses the same software as me and she kicks my ass at it. Am I bitter? well yes, I am but only 'cos I can't work that hard. But its good to have a target. I can build shoes. I could rip hers, could probably even fool her with 'em. But that's not the game I'm playing.
If you can rip stuff, stop being a lazy cunt do something to actually impress me. Build something. If you buy/take/or distribute stolen gear knowingly, emphasis on knowingly, you are as bad as them, stealing someone's time, someone's effort and care.
A noob won't know. But you, dear reader, ain't a noob and you do know the difference. Let it slip by you're the lowest kinda shit.
Let the maker know if someone gives a box of ripped hair, skins or boots that you suspect ain't right. If you aren't sure ask a blogger, plurk it, facebook it to find out, but be suspicious. You don't usually get given good stuff for free, you have to hunt it, join groups or visit shops. SL is big if no one tells us we won't know and although there's not a lot we can do about it without spending big money on legal things, we can at least get them booted from SL, yeah, they'll be back in an alt, but we can all stop keep inviting the thieving little fucker to our parties.

The Last Days of Rome

As the last few Secondlife users stand on the precipice of the end of the Metaverse we’re left to reflect on how this came to be. Whilst the for the few the plentiful times were rewarding the many were left to wander what felt like a empty amusement park. The world sprawled sim upon sim were greedily piled into the verse. In rl there’s a maxim “They’re not making anymore land” in sl this doesn’t apply. Whilst expansion feels good, feels like success they were infact sealing their own fate. At its heart Secondlife is a social net work, a chat room dressed in fine clothes and architecture but at its heart a social experience .The people complained of lag so sought their own lands their own sims to avoid it to take ownership of the problem when they should have complained about the servers and game engine. Alas as the verse grew little by little the networking stopped. The chat dried up, the people left alone to lament their fates staring out from the windows of the ivory towers they created, the guilded cages to set themselves apart from the lag.

The clubs, the hub of social activity were forced into a deathly silence by the dj.boards. Firstly these prim heavy over scripted devices lag the sim to its knees. Secondly the chance of any music related discussion “ hey how u doin what’s this tune” is now greeted by someone pointing at the board. Why would anyone wanna talk about music everyone in sl knows everything…

There are no new people in Secondlife. When did u last meet a noob who wasn’t an alt? The last one I met was Jellie and she had her first rezday a month or two ago.

So enjoy these last 2 months alone. Ill see you in Plurk

Yellow Ford Anglia with Flames up the side

Today's rant.

Few things annoying me lately. There's a lotta smart people in SL but they keep themselves to themselves and bother no one. The idiots, however, are very vocal, inept and generally wrong. Don't get me wrong I'm not the smartest person in second life im just smarter than u.

Viewer wars are stupid and misunderstood, I suppose like, operating systems and to quote-grind Clint Eastwood opinions are like assholes; everyone has one. Most of the viewers used for second life lately (since Emerald cut of its own head to spite its neck) are based on viewer 2. People will have told u at length how v2 is born in its mothers ass must be hated and shunned and that no one who knows anything about Second Life should use it. The makers of alternate viewers download the source code and at the point most of us go gosh I don't know how to do that or how to compile a thingy into a whatsit. It is this natural response keeps us ordinary twats from developing our own viewer. But I had cause to look into the belly of the beast a while back. I'm not a script kid in any sense of the word These alternate viewers don't touch the engine of sl one little bit, the "incompetent Lindens" did all the hard work for us, they just come along and paint it different colours; change the handle bars, maybe a few chrome looking wing mirrors, and would have u believe its all their own work to draw an analogy- its akin to me saying I wrote Photoshop cos I trimmed a photo a bit. Have a look in the sl installation folder at the xml files, they open in word pad mostly in english tweak them a bit u can always re-install if u break it. Sl needs v2, the alternate viewers need v2, bitching about the side bar is missing the point completely.

A browser based hud radar 'who's looking at my tits' sensor isn't what anyone of us need .

What do we need Filthy?

We need everything to rez faster and let more than 20 people in a sim at a time with no lag.

Everything else is just frilly bits.

Show me a viewer that lets my shop rez twice as fast and I'll use your viewer, till then I'll use v2. 'Cos that was made by the organ grinder not the monkey.

Filthy.

What do i do with my other ear bob?

What do i do with my other ear Bob? Dylan this week jsut re-released his old records in mono, fuking, mono ffs. I bought them on vinyl and cd and in 5.1 mp3's now I'm suppose to buy them in mono ? The argument is when they came out mono was how everone listened 'n' Bob 'n' everyone mixed the mono versions so if u bought the stereo versions ur a fool and a joke.o.o what do i do? i want the extra joy that mono will bring me maybe i want 32 bit digital crackle 2.
Ive noticed an increasing tendancy to go 'this is shit i want the new one' a case in point is the iphone i got one when they came out um i had a bog standard phone b4 that u can laugh but it would run on 4 aa batteries if the main one died, i shit u not. But the original iphone; it came out and i thought wow this is the best thing ever , then version 2 came out and 3 and slowly but surely my pride and joy began to leak shit and by the new one well the one i have i may as well lick the shit from a dogs ass. Anyway today i thought enough. I bought a plug in phone for home a 70's one like my parents had when i was growin up. It has no features, but it is big enough to knock a man unconscious and in the end isn't that what matters? I never make phone calls on the landlines; people ring me and try to sell me things and im rude to them but i never dial out, so the rotary dial thing shouldn't be a problem it dosent have a hash key so i cant do automated answering things, but the good thing about that is , if u dont press anything they put u through to a real person right away win, win, win! so do i buy Bob? will it be better? No, it wont .I had a bog standard crt tv that broke so i got a big flat screen now there selling 3d tvs no thanks matey i just got a flat one how stupid do yeow think i am?
rant over.

My favorite designer...Toast Bard. (blog challenge from Strawberry Singh)

top Bird skin Rainbow 5 Black brows
bottom Ghost organs Tiny Words

I was never a skin lover, I had a couple that I'd found that were just ordinary, not shiny or tanned. Then on a trawl through an SL fashion magazine, I think it was 'Second Style' I found an interview with Toast Bard. I was in love instantly. Her avatar was beautiful, she had this amazing skin, like nothing I'd seen before and in the interview she was charming and if I remember rightly didn't mention designing for South American cross-dressers. I wooshed straight over to Tableau and couldn't believe what I saw; a sim I'd visited before. I huffed a bit then stumbled upon Fashionably Dead, literally fell over it, so devilishly tucked away it was. And lo it came to pass that I became a massive skin-whore. The first skin I bought was Tiny Words in a very pale tone, other tones followed and that is still my favorite skin ever all my alts get bought that skin. I have bought many, many skins by miss Bard now, the latest is the beautifully coloured, luminous, moody skin from the Rainbow range.
Toast Bard has a very light touch with her colouring, like watercolours. The skins have a wonderul ability to bring sophistication and sheer class to just about any outfit. I never tire of them and hardly ever wear anything else. In fact most of my avatars are shaped to fit FD skins, because I know whatever else they are wearing their skin will always look fantastic.

(I would like to add, that the photos are only very lightly photoshopped to remove nasty angles and hair poke through, and in the black haired photo I just had to cover up the ear because avatars have weird ears hands and feet. I haven't blurred, recoloured or altered the skins in anyway, all lighting was done in Second Life.)

CFC festival some more favorites...

So here are more of my CFC favorites. Heartsick's studded siver bikini is fab, lovely shape to the bra. SLink have got some cute as hell ankle boots, Siddean is one talented missy. The dress from Malt is lovely, I had never seen any of their things before but I'll be checking them out a bit. Osakki have a beautiful gown up for auction and their pret-a-porter item is beautiful, again a new store to me and I can't wait to check out the store!

Call for Couture fair some of my favorites so far...

So I have been looking at the auction items at the CFC festival, of course there's our item there, but I'll show u my favorites from other stores. So unusually for me is some jewellery, I'm not a great SL jewellery lover but I love these necklaces, by LaGyo. The Zaara dress is just beautiful and was attracting lots of bids, the pret-a-porter outfit is lovely too, I think I will be buying that.
The Donna Flora dress is totally not my style, but I love it, I love the hat! I don't think I can afford it though! The auction gown from Fishy Strawberry is maybe my favorite out of the entire lot, it's looks so pretty and is a really lovely colour. So Many Styles have made a fab dress, I was quickly outbid on it though, grrr.

Sausage and Mesh

spent awhile this week figuring out Blender.I work predominantly in Zbrush which i love. But as u may or may not be aware Meshes are coming to Secondlife. Whilst in essence meshes are sculpties by another name they have a few differences and tricks up their sleeves which have forced me to get to grips with Blender. Its a free prog that iv avoided like the plague. However i need some of its tricks and it must be worth a second look for 2 reasons. Firstly its free and secondly it can do this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRsGyueVLvQ.
Getting back to the point i need it because it can export the format meshes that secondlife will import and it can created "rigged meshes" the secondlife avatar u already have is a rigged mesh.
Simply put an avatar is like a rag doll rigging it attaches it to a skeleton which lets it move.

What i have done in the pik on the left really crudely as i wanna check my work flow is correct b4 i spend an ages making something that wont load is make pants that fit over the sl avatar that once loaded into sl should move as u walk.
The problem i had was the avatar i use in zbrush as a mannequin was different to the one I have rigged for blender. so i had to make them conform to each other, so i can continue to work in zb but export correctly to Blender then to SL deep breath
The open beta for the mesh viewer opens on the 13th Im excited to have ago, tons to learn. The people iv chatted to who were in the closed beta are all bursting with enthusiasm.
The people who don't understand it are naturally scathing.Me i'm getting my hands dirty and having a go, the only way to learn any thing is do it wrong till u get it right. There was a lotta swearing to get me to the point i'm now at as dirty will testify 2 but i'm gaining on it.Ill keep u posted with what I come up with

The Rogla Ghost

heya Yeah new releases have been quiet were hoping to release a bunch of new things at a fair were attending. We could trickle things into the shop bit at a time, but at the moment our lil shop is out in the sticks in Rogla. Roglas a interesting sim , was the first place i ever went if u were around in 06 u prob went there 2.Was the home of Missfits. Missfits was the busiest club in the metaverse in 06. My main ava has a landmark from there created her first day .When we saw the land for sale it seemed a simple twist of fate..These days its a fairly quiet sim theres us Gatsby and the ghost.Gatsby owns the large house across from the shop , a fine American gentleman indeed.Owns most of the sim and we can thank him for the elegant look of the place. These days Rogla feels like home. The ghost hardly bothers us.If you come to the sim dont expect to see a prim ghost flapping in the wind. This is the genuine ghost in the machine. From discussions iv had with some of the old secondlife residents She was a ava called Chewwy Torres and like me a brit. She use to come sit on the hill outside Missfits and chat with her friends. From what im able to gather was sat there one night late December sat at her pc and in Rogla she died some diabetic thing. But from a bit of googling, she was logged in for 3 days and nights before anyone found her.People had sat with her chatting watching the river flow joking and laughing, unaware of her fate. Anyway that was that other than once in a while i chat to people in the shop and around who have spoken to her had a laugh gone there own ways. The sim attracts a large number of retuning avas i think people who logged off there years ago and rediscover sl that and some traffic from the hub.Shes helped get some of them started. I feel proud shes with us one way or another

All in the game

I was just chatting today, set me thinking. I spend a huge amount of time working on shoes. Doesn't leave me with so much time to just chat and hang out like i use to, when i talk to people i talk about the programs and the designs and techniques. I chat to other makers, creative people, um we don't talk about the world at large. In sl there are lotsa shoe designers tons of the fekers, some way better than me some way worse. It started me thinking in flikr if i see a good shoe, do i favorite it, or am I giving my valuable trade over to my peers? if Someone asks for help in the 3d groups, asks something I know the answer 2 to do I keep my hard earned knowledge to myself? Knowing my secret knowledge could propel me to fame and wealth?
No I feking don't..
The Beatles will always be better than me no matter what they used to record their songs. They loved the stones loooved em. Didn't make the stones better didnt hurt the stones sales neither.
So ill rave about who impresses me in sl help people if i can. My stuff will never look like theirs. partly cos i couldn't do things there way and the rest cos I have my own handwriting..

The rightness of Chav

This blog post came to my attention today:
http://chavpaderborn.wordpress.com/2010/09/04/old-drama-is-old-omg-no-pictures/
Apart from being written by the uuuh-may-zin' Chav Paderborn it's just, well, right. I wish I'd written it and since I didn't I'll just say I agree with her.
There are so many stores in SL fighting for teh spacebux that it's hard to get your stores name out there, it's a battle and sending freebies and taking part in hunts seems like a good way to get known, get your landmark in inventories, get your prims on people. I don't know, anyway, read Chav's blog post.

Dirty here, this post is for a challenge set by Alysha Rennahan, on Plurk, to make alook using things over a year old. Now Filthy and Dirty aren't yet a year old, but we have alter-egos that are: Danana and Tiara.

Firstly, Filthy writes about Danana's outfit:
Truth hair; Naomi Chocolate. In my Danana days I was always an Armidi hair fan but this hair from Truth Hawks just looked like me. Comparing it to new hair there may be more clever designs , but this has character still love it, i don't remember what i paid but i think it was inexpensive she should rent it by the day she'd be a millionaire.
The earrings (worn but hardly seen here unfortunately-D) were a present ~Muse~ Celestine Snowflake Earrings. I wear them to remember when I was new and I was an Ice Witch. People Can be so helpfull when ur new to sl, is the reason i came back, thanks Ran.
The necklace is special 2 Rhap made it u know what she is, she's a mate, she showed the me prog I make my shoes with. She makes the Unbelievable Minerva skins. If u ever tried to make a skin you'll know just how good she is. What's scary is her Daughter; Chip who i dunno if she still comes to sl was the talented one>if they wanted they could own sl there's no trick to it ,is just talent..
The dress is Ce cubic i just always found it flattening it had sculps b4 I knew what they were and there not used for any other reason than to make it slinky love it still
The boots are Maitreya dunes, again i had them for years Onyx is an inspirational sculptor the texturing on these is beautiful. the foot shape id change but we all learn, look at her gold range she's cutting edge she's the Beatles.
The Skin is Runway Sakura Porcelain Sin Skin: Ton Visage. Delphi took me shopping she knew the difference when i was still 'ooh blinggg' It's dated but those lips r still sexy.
Filthy Adored

Tiara is wearing a dress by P.C (paper couture?) that I found at Tableau and fell in love with, it was bought for a special occasion I don't remember now but remember the dress and that it was liked and that the main reason I like it, because they did. Tiara's hair is armidi and was probably the first 'normal' hair I bought. Tiara was very goth/metal/neko/wtf, then changed with age. Its still a fab style and goes with most things and more importantly doesn't get in the way of collars and stuff. The tights are from Sn@tch, one of my favorite shops ever, always will be even if it's not 'Me' atm. Shoes are Maitreya Verve pumps in plum and I just love them, always have, since the second I saw them. Skin is (FD) tiny words in morning sun. I love Toast Bard skins, so pretty and hand drawn and make any outfit. So classy too. My eyes are Taranis black by Fallen gods, first ones i ever bought and I still wear them alot. The scarf is Miel, great shop, great sculpts. I like scarves is all, rl/sl and have a ton, this one gets worn alooot.

Sl bashing and the heart I found

Imma annoyed i was in facebook, n there talking about Philip Linden, hes opened a comp for people to update his avatar. The reply's turned into a sl bashing opportunity.I love SL its not perfect but show me something that is.SL, there's good theres bad theres well just plain nasty is hugely diverse. Is my home. when people cun* it off it upsets me. it could be better but it could be worse. if u dont like it dont come, if u can do it better noones stopping u the viewer is open source, impress me

Second life is relentless, ever changing based on fads and whims. Today its Elf ears tomorrow its inflatable knee pads, I'm not complaining creativity is the fire that feeds the Metaverse. I been here a while landed in 06 and I read that Second life has around thirty thousand people in world all the time if that's even half true that's fifteen thousand if half of them are bots that's still say seven thousand, alotta souls indeed. I can't claim to have met them all. The world is like ancient Rome continually being burned down then recreated in its own image. It's hard to hold onto friends in here time flies by like dog years .I never found a soul mate that I connected with so deeply on Monday to have burnt to ash by Friday. And where do I go when it all falls apart? Do I take the long walk to RL, utter the words I'm leavin enough of this shit.
I have, you have or you will.
I have been a camper a dancer a gambler , a manager a club owner, a shop owner. In my sl there is only one fixed point, it can be hard to go sometimes hell even, it can be boring it can be funny it can be nasty. I could take it apart try to explain how it works I have tried. It's like family I suppose so not an easy relationship. It's both anonymous and intimate. Some people have gone there for years but it always seems to be new faces.
one day I know ill wake up and Keith Richards will be dead and the world will go on but it won't be the same
be the same with Alt7

Dont u hate it when...

I went and asked the great Siddean of Slink for an opinion on my latest boots. She makes some of the best shoes in sl. I know she uses the same software as me so thought she would be the person to ask. Sure shes very busy rebuilding her shop.but i thought id take a chance.
Don't u hate it when these people turn out to be friendly helpful offer constructive comment and even teach u some new things, what kind of world are we living in here this served as a stark reminder that this is second life not real life.
Thanks Siddean ur a star

New low lag boots part 1

ok rant time

script lag. Did u ever struggle to tp or cross a sim crossing. If u did the chances are this is cause by script lag. if ur in a v2 viewer go to world place profile about land-region memory-my avatar tab.

In that list ull see the memory size in kb of every scripty item your wearing in our invisi prim version of the bootu should see it as 192kb per foot this is higher than i would like but the rezize script can be deleted this will lower the cost but not remove it as the invisiprims not required in v2 have to stay. if we compare this to a well known sl top brand the un named boot has a memory size of 7936 per foot 41 times higer

this on its own is fine but when u go to a club and everones shaking there glamerous booties dont be supprised when the sim grinds to a halt

think of sim memory as ozone some items in sl make holes in it these are shoes and hair mostly

yes the lindens could make the sims run more memory but thats like adding extra cupboards to ur bedroom u will fill em with rubbish in a day. Hopfully building smart we can improve everones sl experiance
